In today’s edition you stated: Greg Hywood is a Fairfax journeyman who edited the AFR, SMH and The Age over the years, now writes a column for The Age, appears on Insiders and is consulting to the Bracks government on the rebranding of Victoria.
In fact Hywood is a direct employee (not a consultant) of Department of Premier and Cabinet, and has been so since mid-2004. He is the “Executive Director of Sector Improvement”, not that anyone knows what the hell that is, and is earning in the salary range of between $205,000 to $290,000 per year. He has been quite vocal in recent months of his criticism of Federal Members of Parliament in his articles in The Age, one would hope that he isn’t being paid to be pushing factional lines from Spring Street.
