Burgmann no Green
Silly Crikey reported this week that Meredith Burgmann is a Green when she is, of course, Labor’s President of the NSW Legislative Council.
Our oldest directors
We speculated earlier this week that Neville Wran was one of the three oldest public company dierctors in Australia behind Spotless founder Ian McMullin, who we think is the oldest. Alas, how could we forget the most gentlemanly director on the PBL board, none other than Sir Laurence Muir who turned 80 this week. Happy birthday Laurie.
Bernie Shylock correctionA subscriber writes:
Enjoyed your opinion piece from Bernie Shylock. All good EXCEPT Muldoon and the National government were voted out of office in mid-1984 (while there was an interest rate freeze ie. no 24% rates). The 24% rates were the result of the Fourth Labour Government and Roger Douglas – policies were colloquially termed “Rogernomics”. Good job too – they saved the NZ economy. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story though.
