Oh dear, its terrible what a bit of newspaper publicity will do, isn’t it. In the argument at the private Ascham School in Sydney’s east, the head of the Parents Council has been a woman called Lady Laura Reid.
In a Sydney Morning Herald item on Friday she was described as living in Darling Point. Well luvvies, that was too, too much.
A PS at the end of her letter on the school’s website said:
On a lighter note, for those of you who read the article in the Herald today I would like to clear up at least one of the inaccuracies therein. Please do not redirect my mail – I do not live in Darling Point, I have never lived in Darling Point, nor do I have plans to move there in the future.
Darling Point is a very expensive harbourside suburb in the inner eastern suburbs and Lady Reid lives near a big park in the east. It’s marginal which is the better address, but Darling Point does have a lot of flats and apartments! Read the full SMH story here: Schoolyard showdown as Ascham’s board tests parents’ patience
Lady Reid also distinguished herself in her website letter by bluntly saying the most recent former headmistress, Miss Susan Preedy, was gone. Well, Lady Reid, following the events of last night, she ain’t. She’s on her way back!
