Crikey, how will it continues after Thursday?
A subscriber writes in the latest yoursay:
I must say I am looking forward with interest to how Crikey presents to its subscribers after Thursday. Eric Beecher’s use of the words ‘Howard haters’ is something that disturbs me. Howard haters (according to Howard’s side of politics), are people who question the devious, immoral, racist, duplicitous, venal, spiteful (have I missed anything?) way he conducts public affairs.
Crikey has always attracted me because it has always pointed out how so much of Howard’s approach to politics contains the above, in contrast to main-stream journalism which almost never pointed it out.
Shaun Carney’s article in Monday’s Age, 7 March, The demands of democracy, is a very good critique of the use of those other words Howard loves to use against Howard haters, move on.
Well, I hope as Crikey moves on I won’t be reading the words “move on” or “Howard haters” to describe those who question how public affairs is being conducted in this country, otherwise my subscription will move on.
