John Kiely, the former Herald Sun opinion editor and the new Mr Lorraine Elliott, writes:
Stephen Mayne) tells an outright lie when he claims (Friday) that as Opinion Editor on the Herald Sun I used to ask him to write anti-Kennett pieces. Fact is, nearly all the requests I made in that role were to outside contributors when I thought a running issue needed comment. Staff members were always offering me pieces and I didn’t need to request them. Fact is, also, that Stephen had an animus against Kennett having worked (unsuccessfully?) for him, and wouldn’t need any prompting. I take some comfort from his latest snide effort which shows that in that role I didn’t favour one political side. Cheers, Stephen.
