I would never as a rule bother getting into a stouch with somebody
like
David
Flint, however I must put him right. I have never styled
myself
“royal
watcher”, that something the media invented along time ago and
it’s
stuck.
However for David’s information, I have been reporting the doings
of the
royal
family since the mid 1970’s and in that time have been able to get
to
know some
of them personally and certainly get to know all about all of
them.
David will
be horrified to know, I am sure, that when Prince Phillip was
told
the
referendum on the republic was lost , he remarked to a cousin, who
relayed
it
me :“the Australians must be bloody mad”. He, unlike Professor Flint
and
Tony
Abbott el al , lives in the real world.

Dear Crikey
After reading Mr Flint’s article defending the monarchy I couldn’t
help
but
wonder how one was meant to respect the authority of someone
who
mispells
“constitutional” twice and “hospital” once.
I mean, really. I’m going to take with a grain of salt
the
constitutional
advice of anyone who can’t even spell the word constitution.
