Yesterday morning on 702 ABC Radio, Sally Loane did her usual Monday gig
with
the SMH’s property hack Jonathon Chancellor, gossiping about modern Sydney’s
greatest
pastime – real estate.
Chancellor took a handful of calls from listeners, mostly harmless
requests
about whether auction is better than private treaty, North Shore vs
Eastern
Suburbs, etc.
But one caller with a familiar voice identified himself as Tim. He went on
the
attack and accused Chancellor of running misinformation in his Sun-Herald column. It was then that he revealed that his name was actually Tim Shaw,
and
it was noted that Chancellor had written about Shaw’s recent property sale.
Shaw was clearly keen to have a very public spat with Chancellor on
air,
insisting that Chancellor apologise for revealing details of Shaw’s
mortgage
arrangements in his weekend column, which Shaw said implied that he,
Shaw, was
a poor salesman.
Chancellor was flummoxed, as indeed was Sally Loane. We sense a more
formal
apology may be sought.
