How about a completely independent inquiry into the Sea King chopper crash on Nias which killed nine service people?

Why? Well cast your mind back to the various Voyager cover-ups and the serious doubts about the military inquiry into the Black Hawk chopper crash a decade ago. There have been too many military inquiries in which shielding the reputations of the defence force has been a higher priority than finding out what happened, and whether any blame should be laid.

When civilian aircraft crash there’s always an independent inquiry without any involvement from the airline or owner, except as witnesses. Why, then, do the defence forces conduct their own investigations?
