In the last two days, we’ve seen some very welcome evidence of efforts by rugby league clubs to improve their image, and that of the game. And what better way to start than with some divine intervention?
On Tuesday, Brisbane Broncos players, coaches and officials attended their annual church service at the historic Christ Anglican Church that’s conveniently located withn the grounds of Brisbane’s Lang Park.
But the second event is somewhat more interesting and unique. On Wednesday, the Canterbury Bulldogs hosted a lunch for around 300 women drawn from Sydney’s corporate world. The function was a fundraiser for the Bulldogs chosen charity, the Breast Cancer Foundation… and the theme for the lunch was “Women in a league of their own”! But apart from the fundraising for a worthy cause, the lunch gave the Bulldogs the opportunity to improve the club’s image with women.
