Crikey’s Consulting Room will be open for the first time tomorrow, as
Christian Kerr answers readers’ political problems. You still have an
opportunity to get your question in Christian’s first ever political
agony aunt column at consultingroom@crikey.com.au.
Christian has been poring over the “Dear Deidre ” section of the London Sun
– particularly the photos – all in the name of research. And he has
been carefully contemplating the fate of Barry Humphries’ Ask Edna
column in Vanity Fair, and foresworn off any references to
females from any ethnic groups and those with facial hair. But what
voice to write in? Does Evelyn Waugh’s The Loved One offer any clues?
“There was a spiritual director, an oracle, in these parts who daily
filled a famous column in one off the local newspapers. Once, in days
of family piety, it bore the title Aunt Lydia’s Post Bag; now it was
The Wisdom of the Guru Brahmin, adorned with the photograph of a
bearded an almost naked sage.”
The Consulting Room will appear in tomorrow’s Crikey.
