As forecast in last Friday’s Crikey, Nine scored its second win of the
2005 ratings season last week, beating Seven into second. Even if Seven
hadn’t had that little loss-of-signal problem for 45 minutes last
Wednesday, Nine still would have won the week, which ended on Saturday.
Nine ended up with a 29.9% audience share last week. Seven had 27.6%,
Ten had 21.2%, the ABC 16.4% and SBS 4.9%. Nine won in Sydney and
everywhere else bar Perth, where Seven was number one. Kerry Packer
will be pleased.
Ten had an average week but still finished in the top spot in its
target demographic of 16 to 39, thanks to a good Wednesday night that
was powered by the first episode of Jamie Oliver’s new series on
cooking school dinners. However Ten’s strength from last week faded
last night when it was lucky to escape being beaten into fourth spotby
the ABC. While Nine won last night with a solid 32.7% share, from Seven
with 24.4%, Ten finished with a low 19.8% share and the ABC with 19.0%.
SBS was on 3.9%.
In more good news for Nine, the network last night kicked off the new week with another win, thanks to News, 60 minutes, Backyard Blitz and CSI. Tonight will be Seven’s with Lost at 8.30 pm, but the interest will be in the improving Super Nanny USA for Nine at 7.30 pm and how Nine’s struggling News and A Current Affair go after copping a pounding from Seven News and Today Tonight for most of last week.
