The stress of politics can do strange things to people. Two interesting case studies have come to Crikey’s attention recently. We hear of a veteran Victorian Liberal state MP who has a unique way of vanquishing his foes. Whenever this member has trouble with someone, he writes their name on a piece of paper and puts it in his freezer. It seems that there are many more names from his own party than Labor on ice.
Then there are the unique mentoring methods of a NSW figure who’s been in the news quite a bit this year. It was a guaranteed path to career advancement from university Labor Club to intern for this MP – although the training he gave seems a little unorthodox. The blokes, we’re told, were supposed to drink with him until they measured their length on the ground. The sheilas were supposed to, er, get horizontal with him straight away.
