There’s a new post mortem on monetary targeting, that stage in the journey of the Australian economy to become one of the world’s most successful. Simon Guttmann, successful PhD student and recent recruit to the RBA, launched his book The rise and fall of monetary targeting in Australia in Sydney today. Clearly most of the retired monetary policy warriors had fun, including mock cries that they’d been defamed.
Today, Henry Thornton editor Peter Jonson adds his comments at the end of a biographical essay that perhaps puts the monetary targeting debate into some perspective.
