Who will replace SBS managing director Nigel Milan, who is due to end his term early next year? There’s an intriguing suggestion that Quang Luu, head of SBS Radio, has been hard at work lobbying the ethnic communities to push for an ethnic replacement (ie. himself) when Milan steps down.

Qang Luu has already had a couple of goes and it’s unlikely he will be successful this time. But the power of the ethnic communities can’t be discounted – it’s believed they were behind Luu receiving a gong in the Australia Honours list a couple of years back. He also has SBS chairman, Carla Zampatti, on side.

This appointment will be a prize piece of patronage for John Howard to hand out.
