Hyperbole in the House earlier this week seems to have done nothing for the leadership chances of NSW police minister Carl Scully. He went way over the top in response to questioning from opposition leader John Brogden over the Canterbury Bulldogs phone-taps claims – as a quick peak at Hansard will show.
“How dare he pretend in this House, with a hypocritical smile, that something is wrong in Denmark!” Scully demanded to know. His colleagues cringed. To paraphrase the same play, the minister doth protest too much.
