I believe that Channel Nine upped its advertising rates for the Live8
screening on Sunday night, and is refusing to give any free or low cost
advertising time to the Make Poverty History campaign (that Live8 is part of
& is supposed to be publicising), if it can sell all the time to paying
advertisers, which it can. So a concert that is supposed to be raising awareness
of poverty, the G8 meeting and the campaign is actually making money for Channel
9 at the expense of this aim.
