The game of musical chairs continues in the search for a replacement for the popular Angela Catterns at ABC local radio’s 702 AM station in Sydney. James Valentine, the afternoon announcer tossed in temporarily to fill the Catterns gap, returns to his afternoon gig from next Monday. Bosses at 702 reckon he’s not the one and has failed to engage with women listeners in particular.
Simon Marnie, the weekend breakfast/mornings announcer, will be doing weekday mornings from next week, leaving a gap for the weekend.
Jennifer Fleming, the ambitious producer of Valentine’s afternoon program, is actually on-air filling in for him this week in the afternoon slot. She was originally slotted to fill in for Marnie this weekend, but Sarah McDonald, wife of ABC journo Jonathon Harley, is rumoured to be the fill-in (and was favoured to follow Angela Catterns into mornings). But she has just had a second child and might not have the time.
