This interesting correction appeared in The Times yesterday:
Lynton Crosby v The Times
The dispute between Lynton Crosby, the Conservative Party’s general election campaign director, and The Times has been amicably resolved. The Times accepts that its January 24 headline “Election is already lost, top adviser tells Howard” was an exaggeration of the advice The Times understood Mr Crosby had given to the Tory leadership. Mr Crosby accepts that the article was not intended to be damaging. Both parties are pleased to put the matter behind them.
CRIKEY: It may look we’re corrections-obsessed today, but this one has all the earmarks of a legal deal, or what Crosby and The Times’s Australian editor Robert Thomson would describe as “win-win”.
