During the lunchtime news there was full coverage of the latest bomb
attack on the London tube. Tony Blair gave a press conference, interrupting his
meeting with the Oz Prime Minister. Out of courtesy Tony B. offered the Oz P M
the microphone to say a few words. Howard went into the usual spiel of
confirming Australia’s full support of the war against terrorism, how he admired
the British public for their determination to get on with life. But then he went
on and on again. Eventually, when it looked like he was coming to an end, he
suddenly said
and furthermore…
At that moment a microphone in the
control gallery must have been switched to air, for a bored voice said:
Oh
Gawd, he’s not going to stop. Cut back to studio…
So we left Mr H still
rabbitting on…
