What not to do: The NSW premier-elect got his relations with the meeja off to a great start yesterday – not. Following yesterday’s presser walkout the question has to be asked: what has Bob Carr left NSW? A real dill-iemma?
NSW Liberal paranoia: The righteous (or maybe just the right) in the NSW Libs are upset by Crikey coverage. A crusade to uncover correspondents is now under way. Funny that tough political types should be so thin-skinned. Perhaps they should take the advice offered at the Liberal Women’s Council last week – if Crikey turns up in your email, just delete it.
Leadership posturing in Victoria: It came as no surprise to anybody that Liberal MP wannabe Andrew McLorinan flopped in the weekend preselection for Mornington. What was surprising was the questioning on McLorinan’s time on Bayside Council suggesting he was too cosy with the controlling Labor faction. McLorinan has a big important friend in Louise Asher. She’s backed him in the past. Do the questions confirm the rumours that she’d like him to go for one of the new local Legislative Council seats in the hopes it might one day help her leadership ambitions?
