The Winners

Seven had the top four programs: Border Security (1.8 million), Today Tonight (1.56 million), Medical
Emergency (1.528 million) and Seven News (1.491
million) – plus two other programs in the top ten: Home and Away and
All Saints. Nine’s top program was Nine News (8th), followed
by A Current Affair (9th). Ten’s Australian Idol auditions was 5th with
1.464 million.
The Losers

Nine, big time, though two repeat episodes
of CSI between 8:30pm and 10:30pm (1.235 million) kept Nine competitive. The
programming blunders at 4:30pm for the second day in a row damaged viewing figures for Nine
News, ACA and Temptation. The new episode of Frasier at 7:30 pm finished
with 1.04 million, down over 200,000 compared with the past couple of
weeks.
News & CA

Today Tonight and Seven
News won nationally and in Sydney where Nine News fell under the 300,000
mark (297,000) for the second time in a week. In Melbourne, Nine News extended its lead over Seven and TT
and ACA shared the honours with 445,3000 people each. Nine News won
Brisbane but lost the 6:30pm slot to TT, while Seven won both slots in
Adelaide and Perth.
The Stats

Seven won easily for the third night in a row. Seven
won 29.5% to Nine on 27.1% and Ten with 23.2%. The ABC was on 15.3% and
SBS was down to 4.9%. Seven won in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth but lost
Brisbane and Adelaide to Nine. Seven’s win in Perth was again a big
factor in the national win.

Three bad losses in a row for Nine, three solid wins for
Seven, setting up the possibility of a Seven win for the week,
especially with Lost and The Amazing Race on Thursday night. If it happens,
someone at Nine will have to eat their words because Nine was confidently
saying in May that it wouldn’t lose another week this year. Tonight will be
closer, with the performance of McLeod’s Daughters closely watched
to see if it has been damaged by its clone The Alice. Seven has Forensic
Investigators back at 9:30pm which will battle against Nine’s fresh
Without a
Trace.
