The Czech born, Sydney educated, former Australian citizen Marie Christine von Reibnitz, who is now a cousin by marriage to the Australian head of state, has once more risen way above her station. Now known as Princess Michael of Kent (she married the head of state’s cousin; and because she is a Roman Catholic and wouldn’t change her religion, Prince Michael was forced by law to abandon his place in the Line of Succession to the Australian throne), she bought a mansion in Gloucestershire in 1981 for £300,000. The couple are now feeling the pinch and want to sell it. The valuation is £2,000,000but Marie Christine has put another £2,000,000on the asking price. Her reasoning: because it has her cachet, it’s worth £4,000,000!
