So Labor’s own Bob Katter, Harry Quick, is walking. Yawn.
“We’ve got a monumental task to win the next federal election and, sadly, I think our next Labor prime minister isn’t in Federal Parliament,” he’s said.
Right. If he wants to give his party a fighting chance, why doesn’t he give them at least a drop of new blood and resign his seat immediately? At the moment a by-election in his seat of Franklin could well show a big swing to the ALP. Going now would also give his successor the advantage of incumbency at the next election
If Quick is right and Labor cannot win under Beazley, then the by-election would give Labor a whack – a whack that might spark them into rethinking the leadership.
Quit now, Harry. Your party needs you.
