It’s not just Fairfax cutting costs. News Ltd is also feeling the
pinch. Advertising revenue forecasts have not borne fruit, so executive
chairman and CEO John Hartigan called a cost-cutting summit this week.
The CEO and general manager of the Herald and Weekly Times,
Julian Clarke and John Webster respectively, were among those summoned.
Among projects discussed were the launch of the Brisbane version
of mX and the continuation of the NSW Central Coast paper, which was started to
fight off a Fairfax entry there.
