The following invitation has been circulated to the bigwigs at Westpac.
I wonder who they expect to attend since, by Westpac’s own admission,
only 23% of senior managers are women and there are only a handful of
women at the GM level? Moreover, surely if Westpac is setting out to
celebrate its progressive approach towards promoting women in the
workplace it is pretty regressive to host an evening which ends with a
fashion parade…
Women have played an important role at the Westpac Group for over 100
years. Over that time we have made considerable progress on the road to
equality in the workplace, and we have worked hard to help our female
customers realise their dreams. Please join us to celebrate the history and achievements of the women
of Westpac, and to thank you for your contribution to that history.
Guest speakers, Dr David Morgan, CEO of Westpac, and Anne Hatton, CEO
of Hudson, will share some of their insights, there will be some gifts
to take home and we’ll finish the evening with a fashion parade from an
emerging designer. We look forward to seeing you there.
