Subject: Salt Shakers E-News – RESENDING – URGENT ACTION REQUIRED

We apologise for some human error in the last email. (Wrong phone Number and wrong attachment)!!

Please delete first email and use this one.

On Thursday September 8th Senator Lyn Allison (Dem) and Senator Jan
McLucas (Labor) attempted to have the Senate vote in support of a
motion which, in effect, would have acknowledged the UN Secretary
General’s call on governments “to ensure ‘universal access to
reproductive health’ services”. READ ‘CONDOMS AND ABORTION ON DEMAND
PROMOTED, AND OFTEN PAID FOR, BY THE UN

Unfortunately this motion is supported by the Howard government, BUT
strong opposition from Senators Ron Boswell, Barnaby Joyce and Guy
Barnett, meant this attempt failed.

That will not be the end of it. We believed they will try again to have this motion endorsed – PROBABLY TOMORROW (Tuesday)

URGENT ACTION

Please contact Senators Boswell, Joyce and Barnett and congratulate them and urge them not to give up!

Also, please email the other Senators listed below ASAP.

Ask them “not to support Lyn Allison’s reproductive health services
motion.” Tell them that you don’t want any attempts to foist abortion
on demand in this country AND we want AusAid to stop funding UNFPA
abortion programs.

Email addresses for ALL the Senators are ON THE ATTACHED SHEET – with a copy of our short letter (please use your own words)

Alternatively you can TELEPHONE THE AUSTRALIAN SENATE SWITCHBOARD 02
6277 7111 and ask for a senator by name – simply ask their PA or
secretary to give them a message that “you do not to support Lyn
Allison’s reproductive health services motion.”

Why now? This week at the UN the World Summit will convene, Sept.
14th-16th, to review progress on the Millennium Development Goals,
(MDG’s) first articulated in 2000 at the Millennium Conference. The
goals were to reduce poverty, increase development and further basic
‘human rights’ such as education, security and health. All worthy of
support, BUT NOT if ‘reduction of poverty’ will mean ‘reduction of
people’ through contraception/sterilisation/abortion; and NOT if
‘education’ will mean ‘sex education’ promoting
abortifacients/contraceptives/condoms; and NOT if ‘health’ will mean
‘sexual and reproductive health’ which is interpreted to include
abortion. These are the meanings Senators Allison and McLucas had in
mind when they showed their hand in the Senate last week.

There will be a mighty fight, again, at the UN this week as pro-life
delegates do battle with would-be population controllers. From all
accounts, there is chaos there already. We must keep our pro-life
friends in our prayers especially this week. Meanwhile, there will also
be a battle in Canberra in the Senate.

Please forward as much as possible TODAY
