Bill
Shorten was guest of honour at a $90-a-head Victorian ALP fundraiser in
Broadmeadows on Wednesday night – but who was the ultimate beneficiary?

The invitation asked the faithful to make out cheques to the ALP Coolaroo Campaign Account.

Victorian
Labor insiders say Coolaroo is one of the dodgiest branches in the
state. There have been allegations that the funds raised will benefit
two impeccably connected yet colourful Labor local government
identities, Burhan Yigit and Mohammed Abbouche, and their Hume council
election campaign.

All for the toilers’ cause, of course, if you
take a pretty selective view of what that actually is. And if the Left
don’t stop them. Burhan also has his eyes on Maria Vamvakinous’s seat
of Calwell, under threat with the recent factional re-alignments in the
Victorian ALP.

Shorten supposedly represents a bright new
future for Labor. So what’s he doing with people who represent
everything old and dodgy?
