Two Louisiana lawyers are planning to roll out an alcoholic drink
called “Katrina.” The catchphrase? “Get Blown Away,” above a small
image of the storm which killed at least 1000 people.
Andrew Vicknair
and Harold Ehrenberg filed a trademark application on September 4th,
just six days after the hurricane ravaged the Gulf Coast. The
enterprising lawyers – both graduates of Orleans’ Loyola University –
have their offices in Metarie, Louisiana, a suburb struck hard by
Katrina.
The tacky attempt to cash in echoes post-September 11 trademark applications for products like the “Osama
Pinata” or T-shirts bearing “Osama, Yo’ MAMA!”
