The NSW government is considering,not only burning old tyres in cement
works(trialling being done now by Blue Circle at Berrima),but also plastics eg
old computers,bottles.There are 29 cement plants in NSW.Bob Carr had promised no
more incinerators 10 years ago.Cement plants do not have to comply with strict
EPA GUIDELINES.

??Thanks to Crikey, we
know that it was Geoff Dixon’s wife’s car left in the charge of their daughter
(although she wasn’t driving) that was involved in a fatal accident two years
ago, killing two students of St Ignatius College, Riverview, in
Sydney. Make no mistake,
this was a tragedy for all involved, including the poor girl driving who was
charged, but found not guilty. The mystery though, was why the name of the owner
of the vehicle did not appear in any mainstream media. Wonder no
longer. Apparently Geoff Dixon rang around the media, and threatened to pull all
Qantas advertising from any media outlet publishing his family’s connection to
the accident. I understand our
defamation laws may prevent publication of what he did, but surely we can all
wonder why the Dxon name didn’t get a run at the time (other than in Crikey of
couse).
