Our Sydney subscribers are invited to attend a memorial event tomorrow
afternoon to celebrate the life of Crikey contributor HT Lee, who died this
July. A colorful band of HT’s friends will pay tribute to our feisty former
political commentator and union activist, in words and music, at the Gaelic Club
in Surry Hills.
Join East Timor’s consul-general in Australia, Abel Guterres, former NSW
deputy premier, Andrew Refshauge, NSW Timorese Chinese community leader, Kim
Gago, Crikey’s Hugo Kelly and many more in paying tribute to HT.
HT died in Melbourne after complications from heart bypass surgery. After
memorial events in Melbourne and New Zealand, tomorrow is a chance for his
Sydney friends and colleagues to remember his life as a photojournalist
and campaigner for just causes.
Tomorrow’s program will also feature new documentaries from East Timor by
investigative journalist Carmela Baranowska with retrospective footage of HT.
Events start at noon, upstairs at the Gaelic Club, 64 Devonshire St Surry
Hills.
