Pittwater
peeves: NSW Liberal factional heavies Sam Witheridge and Michael Photios are having a hard
time explaining why Paul Nicolaou should be parachuted
into Pittwater. Bad blood from the leadership campaign and Barry O’Farrell’s
decision to give way to Peter Denim? Some senior conservatives are also backing
Nicolaou, but other Liberals fear that the money he has been successfully
raising for the party through his chairmanship of the
Millennium Forum will dry up if he goes into Parliament. Bronwyn Bishop,
meanwhile, has been reading the local mood and is pushing the hard right to
support her staffer – and local lad – Damian Jones in the
preselection competition.
Keep taking the tabloids: Some days you can’t help but
love The Daily Telegraph. Like today:
“The Lane Cove Tunnel looms as the next toll disaster but
it is hard to clarify because the call centre handling inquiries is in Jakarta
and they do not know much about it over there.”
