The last time the National Press Club
presented Barry Jones as a guest speaker, the gig was cancelled,
embarrassingly, with just a handful of takers. This time around, the
club isn’t taking chances. The following email has gone round the Labor
membership traps:

CRIKEY:
Surely the media splash Barry generated this week with his helpful
advice to Kim Beazley will fill the club to the brim next Wednesday.
Then again, maybe the club should consider adding that other blast from
the past, Malcolm Fraser, to ensure a full house?
