The Senate inquiry into the
terrorism laws reports this week, but they’ve already been given the
backing of a military dictatorship.
The Prime Minister of
Pakistan has given his backing to Australia’s counter-terrorism
legislation, saying all countries have the right to come up with laws
that meet their needs, the ABC reported over the weekend.
Shaukat
Aziz told journalists at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting,
CHOGM, that the UK and Australia should “have the right to follow due
process and come up with laws that meet their needs.”
