Glenn Milne says in his article “IR is a vote changer at next poll”
that the Association of Professionals, Engineers, Scientists and
Managers Australia “is not a pro-Labor professional association.” As
much as I hate to rain on the anti-WorkChoices, anti-Howard parade,
truthfulness obliges me to point out that whatever the stated
voting intentions of the APESMA membership, it’s an ACTU-affiliated
trade union. My membership of APESMA satisfies my ALP membership
requirement that I’m a member of a union.
However, I believe that work choices for the first time has been driving
IT industry professionals to join organisations such as APESMA.
