A bizarre stunt this morning from Crikey’s mate Michael Johnson MP, Member for Ryan, who’s standing near one of Brisbane’s busiest intersections, spreading Christmas cheer by waving at passing motorists with his wife. He’s on the Western Freeway near the Mount Cootha turnoff.

Police pulled up to ask what he was doing… but haven’t moved him on. He reckons some other folks have even pulled up to say g’day.

Christian Kerr writes: We rang the Road Traffic Division of the Queensland Police, but they were unable to furnish us with any figures suggesting an increase in accidents in Brisbane’s south-west in this already fraught time of year for road trauma.
