Days out from Tasmanian state election, a dossier titled “The promoter,
the premier and the predator” – along with a happy snap – has found its
way to Crikey inviting us to draw the conclusion that Paul Lennon, the
Tasmanian Premier, has kept some low company. It’s just a little too
close to the election for a full investigation of the story –
suggesting that the Tasmanian media were fed this story earlier, but
didn’t swallow it.

So if we’re being invited to make
assumptions, here’s another hypothesis that leaps to mind. This is a
dirty tricks campaign. The Tasmanian election results are on a knife
edge, according to the EMRS poll and the knives down south are pretty vicious.
