Adelaide ABC News News Director Tom O’Byrne has announced this morning
he is leaving to take up work on a “change management” project in
Dubai. He’s run a reign of terror in the newsroom, with many experience
and promising staff preferring not to work with him and going to
different outlets or taking other positions in the ABC.

There are serious concerns in the the Adelaide media community that
Collinswood punches below its weight – that the ABC in South Australia
lacks the critical mass and expertise needed to break and follow
stories, let alone set agendas.

This is obviously a particular concern in SA given the weakness of The Advertiser and the lack of any other outlet with clout.
