On the Snowy float – UBS, Macquarie Bank and Goldman Sachs-JB Were are all
smarting at the backdown as they had no locked in fees and had some spin-off
deals lined up. However, CS First Boston has a locked in fee of $30m which it is still getting.
Word has it that the power cables
coming out of the Roxby Downs mine in SA are much larger than the cables going in which makes most
electricians think they have plans to generate power. Combined with the
recent plans to fund a huge water project to Roxby, it could be a nice
neat (economically viable) uranium mine/nuclear power
plant, all on one site. I believe the foundations and site
designs for the mine expansion are also more in line with a power station than a
mining operation.
