On the day the federal government looks set to dump the cross-media rules, Crikey announces a major cross-media initiative that will add more media “voices” and put the moguls in their place. Today we launch Crikey Music, a weekly service for subscribers offering free music downloads. In an initiative that will add significant diversity to the Australian media, each week Crikey Music will bring you a free track from a different artist. All you have to do is click on the link to our website below and download. Songs are MP3s and will play on Windows Media and iTunes. This week it’s a stripped-back acoustic version of “I Hear Motion” by former Models singer and guitarist, Sean Kelly. We hope everyone enjoys it — especially Senator Helen Coonan, the architect of Australian media diversity.
