Sky News broke into its programming this morning with the breaking news of the announcement of a major leadership change unfolding at a press conference in Perth.
The prominent Australian stood down from his leadership position, Sky reported, after suffering a series of wobbles attributed to a chronic health condition.
The outgoing leader described his decision to retire as “emotional” and “difficult”. With cameras running, colleagues said they were 100% united behind the new leader and would continue to work as team. A colleague described the former leader as a “friend and ally” and wished him well in dealing with his illness in the future.
A Sky News panel then analysed the much-anticipated move, describing the loss of experience as “disappointing” and particularly concerning for younger generations of Australians.
Laurie Oakes is yet to comment on Greg Page’s decision to stand down as the Yellow Wiggle.
