More staff are heading for the exits at the weekly “quality” magazines BRW and The Bulletin.
Yesterday news reached the Crikey bunker that BRW’s star columnist Adele Ferguson is pulling up stumps — as predicted here several weeks ago — and is heading for the political lobbying outfit Crosby Textor.
“It’s good time to leave,” Ferguson told Crikey yesterday when we rang to check the story. In February she will take up the role of CEO of Crosby Textor Financial where Ferguson will be responsible for shareholder relations, IPOs, lobbying and corporate polling.
And according to BRW insiders there are least two more journalists believed to be queuing for the exit.
Meanwhile over at The Bulletin there are also few signs of a pause in the exodus, with highly regarded Business Editor Alan Deans leaving the building and several other key senior staff believed to be actively looking for the exit.
Insiders report morale at the 126-year-old weekly is at an all-time low amid shrinking budgets and unrest over the editorial leadership of new ed John Lehmann.
