There is well-founded speculation that tomorrow’s Greenmount Beach love-in by the Queensland Labor Caucus will attempt to move against Premier Beattie as a consequence of his blunders of the last 12 months. Insiders suggest that numbers are building and that a big tip to roll Pete is Anna Bligh with support from Andrew Fraser as Deputy, who has support from the Labor Unity Faction and the AWU. There is major frustration about water, climate change, Hurley and the inability of Beattie to broaden his advice source from only a selected few. It seems that the new editorial policies at the ABC designed to rein in those left-wing bomb-throwing radicals have come unstuck before the ink’s even dry. Thousands of copies of the policies are stacked up waiting to be sent back to the printers. It seems that the new editorial commandant, Paul Chadwick, who strode into the ABC’s Ultimo bunker just a few days ago to start his new job, has demanded big changes to the policies he’ll be overseeing. Exactly what he wants is unclear, but what is known that the ABC Board, which has taken a mighty keen interest in all matters editorial, has agreed. The “Editorial Policies” will now be unbound to include a page or two of Chadwick’s carefully honed prose … topped off with a portrait of the great man.
