The NSW Liberals need a laugh — and fundraiser and sometime candidate Paul Nicolaou gave them one on Monday in the lead-up to today’s meeting to choose a party leader.

Sydney media wags have been suggesting it’s lucky that Peter Debnam didn’t announce his resignation in his budgie smugglers down at Bondi Beach. Given his luck, they reckon, the Solomon Islands tsunami would have come rolling in mid-presser.
