We’re always hearing complaints of politics being sold like soapflakes. Is it possible to match consumption and voting patterns?
We’ve been drilling down into data from Roy Morgan Research to locate voters who may be feeling the squeeze, like to buy Australian and have an eye for a bargain to see how they will vote.
Our Roy Morgan Top 25 finds that these people are largely concentrated in blue collar, rural and regional and city fringe electorates – electorates that are largely leaning Labor.
We also looked at electors who agree with the statement: “I will buy a product because of the label”. Their highest concentration is in Higgins. No wonder Cossie is such a show pony.
Crikey’s key seats – the 49 seats we believe will decide the federal election — are marked with an asterisk.
More details are available from Electorate Profiles on the Roy Morgan Online Store .
