The Age‘s Catherine Deveny was in fine form this morning:
Sam Newman insults and undermines women once again. Not news, I know … Liberal politician Troy Buswell has previously admitted to snapping a Labor staffer’s bra strap and been accused of making sexist remarks to another female MP. Last week he ‘fessed up to sniffing a female colleague’s chair in a room full of people. Josef Fritzl kept his daughter locked in a dungeon for 24 years, raping her repeatedly and fathering her seven children. Oh, and Kate Ritchie wins Australian television’s highest award for being popular. Dull, unthreatening, uninspiring, but popular.
Quite the week for women.
Go Catherine!
As usual, an excellent article.
Amazing that those TV footy yobbos think they are such daredevils, but in reality are so tremendously dull.
Fascinating that Channel 9 continues to pander to their obsessed egos.
I’d be interested if their advertisers actually see an increase in sales / profits or is it just that the TV station gets more vacuous viewers tuning in?
Are these viewers buying the advertisers products?
And how do the advertisers feel about their products being associated with buffoons who believe that women of all ages are fair game for their sexist and demeaning attitudes?
Don’t these people have daughters / sisters / females whom they respect?
Wake up!
The days where ‘any publicity is good publicity’ are way over.
But then Channel 9 is now becoming known as the ‘dinosaur channel’ – lumbering and with its brain in its arse.
