The NRMA and the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) advises that all Australian’s are “REQUIRED” to have an International Driving Permit (IDP) to drive a car in Malaysia. It just so happens that the NRMA and the AAA are the only entities able to issue you an IDP for $50 in Australia. I’ve been in Malaysia for the last six months and hired numerous cars from big and small car rental companies and none required me to produce an IDP. All I needed was my Australian licence. I wonder how many other countries the NRMA and AAA say IDP’s are compulsory when in fact they are not?
Has anyone else noted how Julia Gillard looks admiringly at practically all her colleagues when they are answering a question during Question Time? There are only two exceptions — she watches Kate Ellis just a bit too closely and can’t bring herself to give Craig Emerson more than a passing glance.
