Bear Danger. Despite recently declaring polar bears a threatened species, the US government has allowed oil companies to potentially harm them in search of oil and natural gas. Seven major oil companies will have legal protection if polar bears or walruses are incidentally harmed by their activities. — MSNBC
Green cars. A French company has developed an electric car which is less than a metre wide. The Lumeneo Smera is basically a cross between a car and a scooter, and will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October. — Green Daily
Meanwhile Fiat has unveiled their foray into green car technology with the solar powered Phylla. The car is also uses hydrogen technology and is fully recyclable. — Ecofriend
Train hijacking. Climate change protestors in the UK have hijacked a coal train bound for one of the country’s power stations. Disguised as rail workers the protestors took over the train and began to shovel the coal out onto the tracks. — Guardian
