Kevin Rudd knew where to be to get the most coverage this week, as Australia’s focus remained firmly on the watercube, despite the world starting to unravel in the Caucasus, while state and territory pollies dominated whatever political news there was back home, with Paul Henderson almost turfed and Colin Barnett dreaming of canals once more.

Acting PM Julia Gillard was out and about a bit more this week, getting all report cardy on those teacher unions and fending off reports of 100,000 jobs to go, while Chris Bowen had the tough selling job of trying to convince anyone that the grocery watch website is worth a squirt, and Acting Opposition Leader Julie Bishop made the most out of the Territory result.

Not a great deal of interest outside WA in our elected representatives this week, who could know why?

The gold will indeed be flowing for the cereal marketer’s dream after she managed to put all that heartbreak behind her and thumped the opposition to kick off the gold trickle.
