After a delayed start due to Hurrican Gustav, the second night of the Republican National Convention is in full swing. Senator Joe Lieberman (whom manay say John McCain had hoped to annoint his VP) spoke to the GOP in praise of ‘maverick McCain’.
Bloomberg reports that Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000, said he’s supporting Republican presidential candidate McCain because “country matters more than party.”
“The American people don’t care much if you have an `R’ or a `D’ after your name. What they care about is: are we solving the problems they are up against every day?'”
