Hillary Clinton made several campaign appearances in Florida for the Obama campaign over the weekend, and while she emphatically said “”No way, no how, no McCain – no Palin!” she declined to be drawn into an attack on McCain’s VP pick, Sarah Palin. The RealClearPolitics blog reports that:
“After someone in the audience yelled, ‘Tell us about Palin,’ Mrs. Clinton replied: ‘I don’t think that’s what this election is about. Anybody who believes that the Republicans, whoever they are, can fix the mess they created probably believes that the iceberg could have saved the Titanic.'”
The article also reports figures from a new CBS News poll which shows that Barack Obama has increased his support amongst Clinton voters but that the number of Clinton supporters who said they’d vote McCain remains at 18%. Read the full article here.
In my honest opinion, today’s love of ‘Celebrities’ will work against Obama. Yeah, it’s a good idea for the Dems
to project themselves as solid and fiscally reliable. To reflect stability. Regrettably this is perceived as boring by a huge slice of the voting public. Whereas Sarah Palin’s sudden appearance out of nowhere-as I imagine a lot of the voters think of Alaska-together with her aura of stardom has made her an instant celebrity. With a massive
dose of hindsight I think Hillary Clinton might have been the one to take Palin on. Say what you want about Hillary, but she too has star power. As I said, my hindsight is functioning very well.
